in all health care settings
 
95% of all pressure ulcers are preventable (Hibbs, 1987)
 
The cost implications to the NHS in the treatment of
pressure ulcers is substantial and is estimated at 4% of
NHS expenditure. The cost to the patient is immeasurable.
 
The goal of the Reduction of pressure ulcers
programme is to assist the NHS in 'getting to zero', by
aiming to reduce grade1and2 pressure ulcers by 50%
