Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • The Freedom of Information Act (FoI) 2000 gives people the right to access
  • certain information held by public authorities, including Barts Health NHS
  • Trust e.g. reports, emails, policies and procedures, minutes of meetings,
  • statistics, letters.
  •  
  • The requester of information must put their request in writing to the Trust and
  • has the right to be told whether the information is held and the information to
  • be released, subject to certain exemptions.
  •  
  • Written requests for information do not have to make direct reference to FoI.
  •  
  • The Trust must respond to an FoI request within 20 working days.
  •  
  • All staff have a legal duty to help individuals obtain information.
  •
