Freedom of Information Act 2000
The Freedom of Information Act (FoI) 2000 gives people the right to access
certain information held by public authorities, including Barts Health NHS
Trust e.g. reports, emails, policies and procedures, minutes of meetings,
statistics, letters.
The requester of information must put their request in writing to the Trust and
has the right to be told whether the information is held and the information to
be released, subject to certain exemptions.
Written requests for information do not have to make direct reference to FoI.
The Trust must respond to an FoI request within 20 working days.
All staff have a legal duty to help individuals obtain information.
