If the patient has an allergy identified, then attach a red name band. If
the patient has an intravenous cannula it is good practice to attach the
name band on the same side as the cannula.
Attach an allergy sticker to the patient's medication administration record
(prescription chart).
Update nursing documentation to reflect status.
Ensure allergy section on computer records is updated.
Hand over allergy status of the patient at shift changes.
Ask the patient each and every time you administer drugs do they have
any allergies.
