It is important that you are aware of the system used on your site
and within your own ward area.
In particular you need to be familiar with the patient menus
including :
The dietary coding used which enables patients to make the appropriate choice for their
condition and enables you to help them do this if required
Menu choices for Cultural/Religious reasons eg. Halal, Kosher, Afro-Caribbean, Puree
diet
Snacks between meals. Make sure you know what additional food
is available for patients between meals on your ward.
Ensure you are aware of what food is available for those who
have missed meals and how to obtain it.
