Hand Preparation Procedure for entry/exit into clean rooms
All clinical staff

Hand decontamination is the single most important means of preventing the spread of infection; this is a key part of GMP.

The vast majority of cross infection within a clean room area is the result of the transfer of organisms from person to person by the hands of staff.

Touch contamination is the most common source of clean room contamination and occurs via the operators. Therefore, proper hand washing and disinfection are key components to eliminate this type of cross contamination. This procedure is used when entering and exiting a clean room environment and ensures that staff do not contaminate the clean room environment, work stations or products.

Effective hand decontamination can significantly reduce both cross transmission and cross infection rates
