Building on our already successful Trust Preceptorship Programme –this programme aims to ensure that each nurse is equipped with theoretical and specialist skills necessary to safely and compassionately care for patients in surgical wards.  As a streamline approach to career development and progression, this accredited  programme offers multi-modal teaching approaches underpinning the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Future Nurse Standards and Standards Framework for Nursing and Midwifery Education.

In line with our core values and behaviours, when you work with assertiveness you will communicate with confidence, recognise your rights and responsibilities to each other, and know how to deal with potentially difficult situations.

This module will help you understand more about your own and others behavioural styles, the relationship between assertiveness and self-esteem, the impact of how we communicate - both verbally and non-verbally, and provide you with the knowledge to develop better working relationships or achieve better working outcomes - by working with assertiveness.

Once you have completed this module, you should book to attend the Improving your Assertiveness workshop; where the knowledge you now have will be explored, practiced and brought to life – and where you can plan how to apply this in the workplace to achieve the outcomes you want.

The programme came into effect  with the aim to equip HCSW’s with a wider knowledge and improve their leadership skills. The higher development programme aims to build on the expansion of the existing Health Care Support Workers who have already completed the Care Certificate, and to increase their awareness and improve patient experience for effective patient outcomes. It is a personal development programme for existing HCSW’s not only to increase their knowledge but also to give the opportunity to undertake Enhanced Care (providing 1:1 or 1:4) care to patients who required closer monitoring and patients who are at risk of harm to self or others.
